What is the AMWA?
The Allegheny Mountain Woodland Association (AMWA) is a group of people interested in the methods and benefits of sound forest management of privately owned woodlands.
Do you have to be a landowner to join?
No – Anyone interested in the many dimensions of woodland management is welcome to join.
What does AMWA do?
We invite professionals to share their expertise with woodland owners and others interested in trees and forests at our regular meetings. They share their experiences, their ideas, and their best practices. We also conduct tours of both private and public woodlands to observe and learn about “hands-on” woodland management practices.
Examples of Meeting Topics
- Tree Planting
- Invasive species
- Wildlife habitat
- Wetland management
- TreeMendous Tree Contest
- Timber stand improvements
- Property deeds, surveys & maps
- Chain saw safety & maintenance
